Don't worry, God is in Control... Or is He?

After a very interesting (and heated) conversation our community group had about a month ago about whether prayer actually makes a difference, or whether it's simply a way to communicate with God, it made me wonder what other Christians think about predestination vs. free will. I'm not asking you to copy and paste the 5 points of presdestination or explain the definition of arminianism, but rather in your relationship with God and in your heart's interpretation of the Bible as a whole, where do you stand on the point of what is controlled by God in this world, and what has He left to our personal choice (if anything). I know this isn't a salvation issue but since you guys are Christians already I'm intersted to see what you believe on this aspect of religious belief which (in my opinion) affects much of our lives and daily attitudes toward personal and world circumstances.

Marriage in Heaven... What do You Think?

Hey... anyone who reads this. Some contemplations of mine, opinions welcomed.

So I was reading some book on marriage and how according to the story of creation, although Adam had the presence and friendship of God, God still created Eve and deemed her a necessity; "It is not good for the man to be alone". So if this was before the fall of Adam, and therefore earth was basically a perfect creation still as we imagine heaven to be, why is there no marriage in heaven (according to most interpretations of Matt 22:23-28)? If God's presence wasn't enough in Eden, why does Adam (men/people) suddenly not need his "help meet" in heaven?
I don't ask because I'm longing to be attached to my husband by the hip for all eternity, I'm just interested in the seeming conflicts of God's design regarding marriage portrayed in these two passages.

Some possibilities:
-God saw Eve as "necessary" in the role as social companion, not neccessarily as a wife. After all, didn't Paul say he wished more people could get along as he did without marrying?
-Another possibilty: God was just begining the creation of humanity at the time of Eden so he designed them to procreate in order to populate the earth whereas in heaven that won't be necessary.
-Incorrect Translation?
So if anyone reads this, please enlighten me with your ideas.
